Birthday Party

My sister Margaret and celebrated our birthdays yesterday at my brother Steves. Both being Aquarians we share an artistic talent that we are both grateful to have been given. We were both given a task by our sister Sue to make each other a birthday card. It gave us both time to reflect on family and the past. It was very stimulating. Since I have had the flu off and on since before Christmas, it was a time for me to share some time with my brothers and sisters, Mom, my kids and grandchildren. I am very thankful for this.

Looking at my photos.

I found this beautiful eagle by some road kill on the No. 1 highway a year ago. I love it when a bird or animal like this just shows up for me to take a picture.

Skartlet Tanager

This is such a cool bird. It was feeding at a feeder by a cabin we were staying at for a few days in the Whiteshell.

New Years Day 2011

This is two ravens taking a walk on my driveway.  It is a new year and I hope it brings new hope and happiness for everyone. I have had a horrible flu for the past two weeks but I feel I am almost recovered. It takes sickness to realize the beauty of life beyond it and how lucky we are and what a great place we live in.

4 Am in my front yard

In my continueing deer saga. Last night I awoke at 4:00 am to get a drink of water and found this deer eating in my front yard. I have been putting carrot peels peanut butter balls and cut up apple for the two lame deers that I saw a few weeks ago. This healthy one showed up last night but I was glad to see her.

30th Anniversary of the passing of John Lennon

The anniversary of the death of John Lennon is today. I remember the night he was killed. I was walking home from work late. I was with an old friend from school who happened to be working with me publishing community newspapers. We stopped at the Zoo on Osborne for  a drink and saw on the TV what had happened. This always happens to people who are trying to make changes in this world. But it has also been shown that he was became a martyr for peace and a person for our generation to believe in through his words and music. You are sadly remembered and never forgotten.
