This water colour I painted after a canoe trip to the Bird River System in Napoming Provincial Park
We were staying on an island close to the Snowshoe lake. Their were large turtles in the water and on
on the shore. We went to sleep one night in our tent tucked in amongst trees and rocks. I began
shaking and shivering as if I were possessed by the spirit of someone from way in the past
who had drowned in the water. Never underestimate the power of spirits and always
offer tobacco and thank the wonders of nature around you for letting you stay on the
land. Thank you Mother Nature and all the spirits around.
