4 Am in my front yard

In my continueing deer saga. Last night I awoke at 4:00 am to get a drink of water and found this deer eating in my front yard. I have been putting carrot peels peanut butter balls and cut up apple for the two lame deers that I saw a few weeks ago. This healthy one showed up last night but I was glad to see her.

30th Anniversary of the passing of John Lennon

The anniversary of the death of John Lennon is today. I remember the night he was killed. I was walking home from work late. I was with an old friend from school who happened to be working with me publishing community newspapers. We stopped at the Zoo on Osborne for  a drink and saw on the TV what had happened. This always happens to people who are trying to make changes in this world. But it has also been shown that he was became a martyr for peace and a person for our generation to believe in through his words and music. You are sadly remembered and never forgotten.

Yellow birds in my garden early morning

My best woodpecker pic ever

Walking by Gandhi

I was walking at the Forks in Winnipeg and they have placed a statue of the Mahatma walking down a trail by the construction of the new Museum. Gandhi stands as a great man of peace and the very essence of someone who beleived he as one man could make changes to the unjust society he lived in beginning in Africa and than in India. He beleived in non-violence to change what he felt was wrong. He also marched through India and fasted till he was very thin and weak but did not give in until the country was backing him in his quest. This can be a reminder to us all of the way one person can begin change. So never forget that you have a say in the ways of the world. So go forth and be the activist that you know you want to be.

Good Morning

I have been feeding these woodpeckers and various other birds for quite a few years. It is great to watch them all day. Lately we have been putting out carrots and apple peels for the many deer that pass through our yard every night. Sometimes as many as five at a time. They are very timid and run if they see us watching them. A few days ago I looked up while watching a movie and saw a deer right in the front yard about three feet from our living room window. She was holding up her right leg as if it were broken. She saw us looking at her and she stared us for a few minutes and than she ran on three legs and jumped the fence by our yard. Last night before we went to bed another deer was outside our bedroom window looking for carrots. She began to walk and we noticed her limp. This poor deer had lost half of her back leg and could hardly walk. She lingered for quite a while eating what she could find. She than stumbled away down the driveway and down the street quite slowly but on her way to find more food. Tonight I shall put out some oats and peanut butter mixture for whoever shows up tonight. It broke our hearts to see her limp away in the cold wintery night. Nature can be very cruel to wild animals that have to make there way in the urban world. But at least she may be free from wild dogs and wolves attacking. I pray she may continue on for another night.

Check out the sparrow with the white trim around his or her wings.

Snow pics

Let it snow, let it snow

It went from green grass and great weather to lots of snow. Seasons changing is a great part of where we live. For someone who gets bored easy you just have to wait a few hours or sometimes minutes and we have some different weather to contend with. We can be greatful that we don't have too many disasters to contend with weather wise in this part of the world. I just pray that everyone is warm and cozy and all the  homeless people in our city and country our finding shelter. It truly is a crime in this day and age that it is more important to build a new football stadium than clothe shelter and feed the impoverished part of our society.
Let us get together and pray for this to happen.

It truly was a day of magic showing us the tru beauty of nature and what is around us for us to see and be a part of.

Wet Fall Day

Warm fall days coming to an end. It has been a great fall. Today began a new weather system lots of rain and heavy winds to come. We can be thankful in this country that our weather is not as devastating as in some places in the world. Such as today a huge volcano erupting in Indonesia. Our hearts go out to the people there that they may all be safe. Keep positive and know every day begins a new period in your life and that there are always many new possibilities coming along.

Blog 12 Visiting an old sculpture "The Field Walker"

This weekend I visited a sculpture I made in the 90's. It is nessled in a lovely valley in the tiny town of St. Lupicin, home to about 4 or 5 houses a Craft Gallery run by a lovely woman named Anne- Marie. She sells pottery, soaps, jewellery, china and her home is also a bed and breakfast. There is also a church. The woman whom I gave the sculpture to has since moved but the sculpture is strong and home to a lovely birds nest in the head. St.Lupicin is a half hour drive from Rosile and an hour from Carmen, in south western Manitoba. A great drive and very friendly people.

Blog 11 The Rock

A rock is a symbol of something that is strong and steadfast. Something that only changes with the elements surrounding it and weathering it. We find that our soul can be this steadfast rock that holds us together despite the changes of humanity that surrounds us in this life and the lives that proceeded us. Many of us don't feel the past that we cannot really see. We are only really meant to see that which we know or can understand and I can see this too, but on having looked into many past lives of many people. I can only beleive that we are molded by these lives we mostly cannot see. Having been given this gift from the universe I rejoice in this knowledge and would love to share it.

Blog # 10 New Week

Walking by the river I met this crow and this squirrel and this lovely fort that someone had built. I don't know when as I hadn't walked this path for a long time. It reminded me of such forts that I have built by the river and also forts that my art students used to build. People build forts to feel comfort and enclosure. Especially the beauty of the river flowing by the fort built with fallen branches from the greaet trees in the area. The enclosures are also very ancient looking and ritualistic. One can conjure many things from the fort. Please also stay in tune with nature and realize how long nature has sat near us and seen so many things in the midst of a world of constant upheaval. To view the growth of nature and to mix it with our spiritual growth can give us time to reflect on the mystery that surrounds both of them. Have a great week and always stay tuned to your inner self and only try to have amazing thoughts that will bring you closer to the time of enlightenment.

Blog 9 Thanksgiving Weekend

Seize the moment, I know an old cliche but an interesting way to view the whole concept of Today is the first day of the rest of your life. What a lot of things have brought us to this moment. Realizing this it gives us a new lease on life to look forward to many more gorgeous sunsets. To meet many more interesting people. To share the love of your family and the happy faces of our grandchildren as they learn to exist and make their mark in this universe filled with such grandeur and explosive thoughts that can create the world of tomorrow.
Don't dwell on things that hold you down or make you feel less than who you are. We are all created equal in this universe. We take with us what we decide and we are shaped by all around us. Our cells within our body are mere universes in themselves and every bit of dry skin that falls from our bodies becomes part of the ever expressive universe and our body creates more and on and on. As a young child I used to dwell on this thought as I sat on the riverbank in the back of our house listening to the water flow by  that I was a small but important part of the whole and I was connected to all that was out there deep in the cosmos. I know wierd stuff for a very young child but it has always stayed with me. And I continue to look to these large thoughts deep in the cosmos and I continue to know many who came before us in our past lives but I take these experiencees as gifts and use them to aid in the future taking me back to "Seize the moment." It is a beautiful day so go out and live it

Blog 8 Positive Trends

There are many paths that we have the chance to follow throughout our lifetime. Sometimes we may feel we have taken the wrong path but really we are taking a trip that gives us many invaluable lessons. We don't always see the merit to this. When we do take a path that we understand and feel close to it is an amazing time to be alive on this planet earth. Just think back to all the amazing people you have met along these paths. Try to remember all the things you learned from these people and how uplifting they made you felt by them being your friend for a short period of time. I have met such people as these that I can never forget. I ask them in my heart to send peace and prosperty and good health throughout the universe. I ask them to be by my side if only their subconscious to guide me on the right path. Have an amazing day. Kathleen

Oak trees blog day 4

I was recently told that the large oak trees in my yard could be as old as 300 years. I figure that is truly amazing to think what has happened in those past 300 hundred years around that tree. Who passed by it when it was only a small saspling around the year 1700. What stories the tree could tell. What energy it feels and what kinds of weather has it felt. How many incredible storms have blown through the branches and wet the leaves. How many times have new leaves grown and beautiful fall colours fallen. What was happening with the people surrounding the tree and my goodness what about the birds and animals. How many squirrels have hopped from branch to branch. How many different types of birds. I myself have seen more than I can count. The endless amounts of stories that could be told by the tree. I am lucky to have 7 of these old oaks in my yard to look at every day. I always thought they were beautiful and majestic but now I have a new sense of the past as I look up at these tall trees and wrap my arms around their thick bark. It also makes you dream about the future and the hope that these trees will continue to grow and not be cut down or blighted by some kind of tree disease. Lets all take care of the trees and the creatures that live around them.

Wolf in the Aspens

My First Blog

Good morning, It is truly amazing to be here this morning speaking to all that may be searching. Life is a truly amazing gift that we have been given to explore. I have been truly blessed with the many great people I have been in contact with in this life and also in the past. As a young child I realized I had an ability to speak to the dead. To communicate through automatic writing and through pictures. I would like to share this with whoever needs to expore this. Kathleen
